    Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at this annual downtown festival that features food, drink, crafts and entertainment from Latin America. American Legion Mall, 700 N. Pennsylvania. Free.


Hispanic Heritage Fiesta

Sunday, Sept. 19, noon-4 p.m.

  The Indianapolis Zoo is hosting this event for the second year in a row. Enjoy live music, make crafts, swing at a pinata, play games, try your hand at a scavenger hunt, color flags from Latin American countries and enjoy live entertainment. Event is free with zoo admission: $14.50 for adults and $9.50 for kids 2-12. Parking is $6.


Mercado at the Eiteljorg

Saturday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

    This Spanish Market features Latino artists and vendors, art demonstrations and make-your-own art opportunities and other Day of the Dead activities. The Eiteljorg Museum is at 500 W. Washington St. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for kids 5-17 and free for kids 4 and under.

    Workshop for children 5 and up led by nationally renowned facilitator Jane Brown, who was one of the pioneers in the exploration of racial identity in adoptees. More info to come.
